ENTRY 1:
4-6-08 1 - Reflection on Previous I Search Experiences (due Mon. April 7) 1. What are some of the previous research projects you have done? I have resently done projects on labyrinths, and last year I did a project on the planets. 2. Based on these projects, what does research mean to you? Research to me is when you search for information through any kind of resource to find info on a specific topic. 3. Describe one of your research successes or failures. Why was the experience positive or negative? One of my research successes was using the internet for my planets project because I found a lot of usefull information that was the basis for my paper. One of my failures was when I had to use a text book for my planets project, because even though it had some usefull information it was not nearly as much as I was hoping for.
ENTRY 2:
4-7-08 2 - Reflection on Webbing Process (due Tuesday, April 8) 1. I think the webbing process helped/did not help me find a topic because: I think that the webbing process helped me get an idea about what I might want to do, but I just got my topic for the paper tonight because I kept second guessing the other ideas I had chosen.
ENTRY 3:
4-7-08 3 - Why I Chose This Topic and What I Know About My Topic (due Tuesday, April 8) 1. Topic: How did the role of women develop in ancient society from ancient Greece to the middle ages? 2. Why you chose it: I chose this topic because I it seemed interesting to learn about. 3. What you already know about your topic: I already know that back in ancient times, women were gardeners and house wives and wernt allowed to do any jobs that men did.
ENTRY 4:
4-8-08 4 - Pre-Notetaking Activity - in class (due Wednesday, April 9) 1. Brainstorm a list of questions related to your topic.
Why where the women of ancient times treated so poorly?
What did the women wear?
Where women considered inferior to men?
If so why?
Did the women have to take care of the sick even if they were not related?
What where the womens jobs?
Why did the women have to get married at a young age?
Why did the women have to marry an older man?
Who picked who the woman would marry?
Did the women recieve an education?
If the women did not recieve an education, why not?
I had about 25 questions and right now these are the only ones i can remember.
(mrs d i keep typing my questions up and then saving them then i come the next day and they are all deleted and i have done then 3 times already...im perfectly fine with redoing them again but they might be gone again)
ENTRY 5:
4-8-08 5 - Reflections on Pre-Notetaking - for homework (due Wednesday, April 9) 1. Describe how the pre-notetaking sheet helped you find both focus for your topic and research questions to investigate. Did you find it easy or difficult to create a fat question from your ideas? I first found it very difficult to come up with a topic, much less a fat question for my topic. Once I decided on my main topic then it was a little easier to figure out my fat question. After I had established what my fat question was going to be, skinny questions came like no big deal. I think that the pre-notetaking sheet helped to a certain degree. I have always had trouble with these kind of things in the past so I wasn't exactly supprised when I couldn't think of anything. :)
ENTRY 6:
4-9-08 6 - Search Log (due Thursday, April 10) 1. What have I learned today? Today I learned that men thought of women as inferior to men and all the men thought that women where good for was having kids and keeping them healthy. 2. What problems have I had? Today I didn't have any problems with finding anything, everything that I searched on the computer where good answers to the questions I was asking. 3. How will I overcome the problem(s)? There were no problems to overcome. 4. What will I do next? Next I will research more information and hopefully find what I am looking for. I will also try to think of more skinny questions and more "thick" questions (not fat but not skinny....fit).
ENTRY 7:
4-10-08 7 - Search Log (due Friday, April 11)
What have I learned today? Today I have learned how to search databases and I learned about some of the customs and what is considered right for women in ancient times. 2. What problems have I had? Today I had a little trouble finding what I needed from the databases. 3. How will I overcome the problem(s)? Tommarow when i get a chance to work on the databases again I will type in different names and try differnt ways to get the information that I need. 4. What will I do next? Next I will search more of my questions and hopefully have better luck with them.
ENTRY 8:
ABSENT 8 - Search Log (due Monday, April 14) 1. What have I learned today?
2. What problems have I had?
3. How will I overcome the problem(s)?
4. What will I do next? Thanks for responding. Please make suere you get all the research done that you need to answer your fat question.
Ok i will. I am almost done but i need to know what all we need for research because i know we need 2 databases but what else do we need?
